Level 4 students are 13 - 17 years old. We cover a wide range of projects and techniques in this level and students are encouraged to take each project in their own direction. There is an emphasis on creating solid compositions and observational drawing - drawing from life, actual objects. This year projects included an independent study creating art on unusual materials; a pen and ink project, with an underlying fingerprint pattern, focusing on value; and a collage project based on Connecticut botanicals. Donuts were the subject matter for an acrylic color study painting. We worked on improving watercolor skills creating landscapes and designed silhouettes that created strong visual impact while telling a story.
