Pacific Northwest
Pacific Northwest art is built on tradition and symbolism and stories are passed on from generation to generation. This week we’ll be looking at totem poles, soap stone carvings, and masks. We’ll create our own symbolic Pacific Northwest art. Animals and birds are important and many of them are featured in artwork including: orca whales, bears, eagles, ravens, hummingbirds, salmon, loons, turtles and even slugs. We’ll be drawing, painting and creating our own 3D masterpieces that could include making spirit boxes out of Sculpey clay, pocket spirits stones or dream catchers.
